The key treatment methods we are looking into are comparing the performance of Clay, Activated Carbon, and/or Bio-Adsorbent pretreatment stages to be used before the addition of Poly Aluminum Chloride (PACl) Coagulant to remove humic acid (a form of dissolved organic matter) from drinking water. The team conducts central composite design tests on dozens of different combinations to Clay/Activated Carbon/Bio-Adsorbent, PACL, and Humic Acid concentrations to better understand the relationship between all three reactants. By building Conductivity and Dielectric spectroscopy sensors, we can extract data from our system and improve our understanding of DOM removal. Ultimately, this lets us build mathematical models of DOM treatment dynamics that in conjunction with Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulations let us simulate the implementation of different combinations of all 3 reactants and model treatment efficiency and costs on a larger system scale- simulating the performance of treatment methods in developing countries and help tailor AguaClara's implemented treatment methods to each communities needs. ## Reports and Presentations ### Fall 2023 [Symposium Presentation Slides](https://github.com/AguaClara/Dissolved-Organic-Matter/blob/main/Fall%202023/2023FA%20Mid-Semester%20DOM%20Symposium%20Slides.pptx) [Mid-Semester Report](https://github.com/AguaClara/Dissolved-Organic-Matter/blob/main/Fall%202023/2023FA%20DOM%20Mid-Semester%20Report.pdf) [Poster Presentation](https://github.com/AguaClara/Dissolved-Organic-Matter/blob/main/Fall%202023/DOM%20Poster.pdf) [Final Report](https://github.com/AguaClara/Dissolved-Organic-Matter/blob/main/Fall%202023/2023FA%20DOM%20Final%20Report.pdf) ### Spring 2023 [Symposium Presentation Slides](https://github.com/AguaClara/Dissolved-Organic-Matter/blob/main/Spring%202023/2023SP%20DOM%20Symposium%20Slides.pptx) [Mid-Semester Report](https://github.com/AguaClara/Dissolved-Organic-Matter/blob/main/Spring%202023/2023SP%20DOM%20Mid-Semester%20Report.pdf) [Final Presentation Slides](https://github.com/AguaClara/Dissolved-Organic-Matter/blob/main/Spring%202023/2023SP%20DOM%20Final%20Presentation.pdf) [Final Report](https://github.com/AguaClara/Dissolved-Organic-Matter/blob/main/Spring%202023/2023SP%20DOM%20Final%20Report.pdf) ### Fall 2022 [Symposium Presentation Slides](https://github.com/AguaClara/Dissolved-Organic-Matter/blob/main/Fall%202022/2022FA%20DOM%20Symposium%20Slides.pptx) [Symposium Presentation Recording](https://youtu.be/n4SQE6YDL6c) [Final Presentation Slides](https://github.com/AguaClara/Dissolved-Organic-Matter/blob/main/Fall%202022/2022FA%20DOM%20Final%20Presentation.pptx) [Final Report](https://github.com/AguaClara/Dissolved-Organic-Matter/blob/main/Fall%202022/2022FA%20DOM%20Final%20Report.docx) [Manual](https://github.com/AguaClara/Dissolved-Organic-Matter/blob/main/Fall%202022/2022FA%20Dissolved%20Organic%20Matter%20Manual.docx)
